Project Renegade is a four-member metal band from Athens, Greece, founded by Marianna (vocals) and Ody (drums) and joined after by Nick K. (guitars) and Jay (bass). Project Renegade's sound
derives from an alternative, heavy and groove background blended with electronic and ambient elements. After releasing their debut EP "Cerebra" the band released the album "Order of the
Minus”.
In this album the Greeks play a mixture of modern/groove metal with nice electronics touches They have a thick sound which becomes personal and memorable and they have an amazing female vocalist.
Evanescence, Nightwish and Arch Enemy seem to be only some of the basic influences for their music.
The riffs are punishingly huge with great grooves and insane rhythms. They are backed up by nice and spacey electronics plus a really big rhythm section that owes a lot to bands like Fear
Factory.
The songwriting is fresh and modern. The electronics work beneficially for them and the band is very tight. They seem to know their instruments (including vocals) very well and know what to do.
The production is nice and clean with the necessary power and dynamics.
"Order of the Minus" is an intense album with heavy riffs and powerful vocals. The emotional parts don't miss (for example “Sylar” or “Black Mountain”).
The lyrics deal with such themes as mass control and the new age, representing an esoteric search of the band just to discover and set their own cosmos.
Songs to sink your hungry for alternative/modern metal teeth into are: the single: "The New Joker", "Liber8" and my favourite couple of songs "Black Mountain" and "Sylar". The album is excellent
and by naming few songs I don't want to be unfair to the rest. I also suggest that you listen the album as a whole!
